GoStyle Wood Overlays
These wood overlays definitely have a place on the 'cool' list! TechStyle has come up with a way to create a beautiful wood overlay that is perfectly matched to the Palm case and they call it the GoStyle.

The GoStyle overlay is somewhat of a permanent item, so if you are one of those that likes to mix it up regularly, this might not be for you. On the other hand, if you are a professional, and would like to stand out in the corporate world, this is a great way to make a statement. Additionally, if you are a fan of the flip cover, you will find that it doesn't fit anymore because of the added thickness of the GoStyle overlay.

The GoStyle Wood Kit comes in two pieces, a small piece that sticks on the cradle surrounding the hotsync button, and a larger piece that sticks onto the front of the Palm. Complete instructions are included in the kit, and the installation is very simple. It's simply a matter of practicing the placement of the overlay until you are comfortable with where it goes, then you clean the plastic with a provided antistatic wipe, and finally, you peel the backing and stick down the overlay. My suggestion is to do the cradle first to get a feel for it, then move onto the Palm device. To the left you can see the cedar overlay as it looks on my Palm IIIx and cradle. |
| The wood overlay really looks nice, and is a great way to personalize your Palm, however there are some drawbacks. My biggest gripe is that although it only adds about 1/32" in thickness to the Palm, that's just enough to make the buttons somewhat awkward to depress. I particularly noticed this when attempting to play games. If the openings around the buttons were beveled it would be much easier to get a finger in their to press each button.
