JotLoc v1.42 by Giles Goddard

There's a 'Q' in my password, how do I write a 'Q' again?
There are several password protection programs that are available for the Palm.  One of the downfalls with them is that they require some type of password that is normally entered using graffiti.  In some ways, I think this defeats the purpose of the Palm because it really slows down  your ability to quickly access information.  JotLoc solves this by using a single stroke image instead of a password.

What JotLoc does is substitute an image for the standard Palm password.  You still must enter and remeber password in the Palm security application, but you don't have to continually use graffiti to enter it.

JotLoc is a very simple and concise program.  That's one of the beauties of it.  When you run it for the first time you are asked to set your passpic.  This is the single stroke image that is used in place of your password.  You draw the image at least 15 times and the program learns the variations.  Then you set the pass score, which is a percentage of accuracy.  If you look at the screen shot to the left, you will see my pass score is set to 80%.  You can set the lock time/day and the backlight time as well.  It's all self explanatory and quite uncomplicated.

Locked when you need it, not when you don't!
One of the great features of JotLoc is that you can set Lock times and days; up to for seperate Lock down schedules.  As you can see from my settings on the right, I have my Palm set to be locked between 6p.m. and 6a.m. every day of the week.  It's a simple thing to change this to whatever best suits your needs.
In the event your Palm should lock up and a soft reset is needed, you are still secure.  You simply enter you standard Palm password using graffiti!  You won't have to worry that someone will find your Palm and have all your data after a simple reset.

Always having to actually WRITE my password to access my secured Palm has been the biggest bugaboo to me using the security feature consistently.  Since I have been using JotLoc, my Palm has consistently Been secure.  What better testament is there than that?

JotLoc is available at PalmGear and costs $11.95.

What I like:
Easy pen stroke security
Simple to use
Programmable Lockdown times

What I don't like:
Alot of the time, I forget to enter the passpic when I hotsync at 4a.m. and end up leaving the house without hotsyncing (this wouldn't happen if I just changed the lockdown time like I should)
